FAQs
Product & How It Works
Is it safe? Does it shock my dog?
Mello is 100% shock-free. Always. The collar uses gentle beeps and vibrations to help your dog self-regulate — the same way a calm hand on the shoulder works better than a shout. No pain, no fear, no guilt. Just a quiet nudge that teaches your dog to find their own calm.
How does the AI know it's my dog barking and not another sound?
Mello's built-in AI filters out background noise — wind, traffic, other dogs, the TV. It only responds to the vibration pattern of your specific dog's vocal cords through the collar itself. That means fewer false triggers and more accurate, fair responses every time.
What size dogs does it work for?
Mello fits dogs weighing 8 to 120 lbs with neck sizes between 6 and 27 inches. Whether you have a Chihuahua or a Great Dane, the adjustable nylon strap grows with your dog and stays comfortable all day.
How long until I see results?
Most dog owners notice a significant difference within the first few days. Some see results on day one. Every dog is different — some need a little more time to learn — but consistent wear is key. The collar isn't just correcting behavior, it's helping your dog build a new habit of calm.
Setup & Use
How do I put it on and set it up?
Slide the collar around your dog's neck and fasten the buckle snugly — you should be able to fit two fingers underneath. Power it on using the button on the device. Use the same button to cycle through the four modes: Beep, Vibration, Beep + Vibration, and Auto AI Mode. That's it. No app, no remote, no complicated setup.
Which mode should I start with?
We recommend starting with Vibration only — it's the gentlest introduction. If your dog doesn't respond after a few days, try Beep + Vibration. For most owners, Auto AI Mode ends up being the sweet spot: the collar decides the right level of response automatically based on your dog's behavior.
Can my dog wear it overnight or all day?
Yes — Mello is designed for extended wear. The built-in safety shutoff automatically pauses for one minute after 6 consecutive activations, so your dog always gets a break. That said, we recommend removing the collar for a few hours each day to give your dog's neck a rest, especially during the first week.
Is it waterproof?
Absolutely. Mello is rated IP67 waterproof — it handles rain, puddles, and swimming without missing a beat. Just avoid submerging it for extended periods and you're good to go.

Reach out to us first — we'll help you find the right mode and sensitivity for your dog's temperament. If it's still not a fit after that, just let us know and we'll refund you completely. You don't even need to send it back. We'd rather you keep it and try again than feel stuck with something that isn't working.
After Purchase
How do I charge it?
Mello charges via USB in just 2 hours. Plug it in, wait for the LED display to show a full battery, and you're good for up to 15 days. We recommend charging it every two weeks or whenever the battery indicator gets low.
How long does the battery last?
Up to 15 days on a single charge. Battery life may vary slightly depending on how frequently the collar activates throughout the day.
My dog is still barking — what do I do?
First, make sure the collar is fitted snugly — if it's too loose, the sensor may not pick up your dog's vibrations accurately. Next, try increasing the sensitivity level or switching to Auto AI Mode. Still no luck? Contact us — we're happy to help you find the right setup for your dog.
